Centrelink Rent Certificate form (SU523)

Many people have been asking where to obtain a Centrelink Rent Assistance form, officially known as Rent Certificate form (SU523)

Centrelink makes it (deliberately?) difficult to obtain their forms when it comes to making life easier for welfare recipients.

Please find below the form available for download:

Page 2 at 600dpi (3.1MB)

  1. Any chance of making this useful by posting it as a 2 pg. PDF? Then it could be filled in online, via browser & all it needs is the signature.

  3. Thank you so much!! Could not find on their site and even though they have a copy of my lease I apparently still need this form....?

  4. Apparently Centrelink is supposed to mail you this form when you change your address. I got a nice letter about how I need to complete and submit a rent certificate...but the rent certificate was not included. Seriously.

  5. Thanks so much I uploaded it straight away and called them and they have fixed it. Payment in 2 days! Saved me waiting a week
For the forms to come via mail! Life saver :)

  6. Thank you.I could not find the form anywhere, even on the Centrelink website.
It saves time to go to the office to get the hard copy or wait to receive by mail.

  7. Thank you - just spent 45 minutes waiting to speak to someone from Centerlink after changing my rental amount online seven days ago and having my rent assistance canceled only to be told I hadn't sent in this form - which was not advised as being a requirement online at the time I made the change. Only to be informed they would request it to be available on my online account - not their website on which they advised it is NOT available - only to then go into my online account to request the document afterward and have a 'service is not currently available' message appear. ... So thank you for posting!

"Is this form accepted given the bar code number?"

  16. Thank you! I have been looking everywhere for this god forsaken form with little to no success until now. Why can't Centrestink just have a copy on their website? What the actual hell is wrong with our government...

    1. They're punishing us for being poor. Every aspect of their system is designed to discourage applicants.

  17. I just downloaded my rent certificate form and it is already prepared with my details on it. So, in your centrelink account, on the bottom right type "request form" on the search tab. Then, click on the "request document" and it will take you to request document page. Select rent certificate on the drop down arrow then submit. You should be able to receive and download your rent certificate in less than a minute. The due date of the submission of the form in included in my form.
    Hope this helps.

  19. Blood Dragon,

We're not really a user I.T Help Desk, but in any event if you could answer a couple of questions so we know what level of assistance you may require:

1). What sort of operating system do you have?
2). How long have you been using computers?

  32. I’m a causal work and I’m soon rent apartment, am I still can apply Centrelink rent Assistance?

  33. @Unknown (09 June 2021), you're obviously new to computers.

So, what you do is hover the mouse pointer over the 1st image, do a 'right click' and when you come to the menu choice of "Save image as..." you left click that, and it will prompt you where you want it saved locally.

Repeat the above for page 2.

If you're having trouble with those instructions, turn off your computer, go outside and roll around in the mud.

    You're welcome.

  35. Hi! Thanks for posting this. Do we know if this particular form is still being accepted by Centrelink?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Just to let you all know Centrelink isn't accepting this form. I had used this form on the 18th of August this year and centrelink sent me a Rent Certificate that I had to get my real estate to sign so I could send it back. If you have used this form as of August they will not approve it and send you a letter that is completley different and you have to have it signed by a landlord,or their authorised agent or rent collector. I just thought people should know this. Just update your details and then wait a few days and then login to mygov and request document and look for rent certificate. I hope this helps as I gathered this form would work and it doesn't at all. It's missing things from this form and Centrelink will not approve it and send you out a letter about a week later.

  37. Wow, just reading all/some of the above, regarding these Rent Certificates?, I also need a Rent certificate, the lease isn’t under my name, I do pay rent directly to real state, they have no idea who i am, it’s my brothe on that lease? Any ideas guys ? Thanks

  40. You are the actual best! I'm looking into this rent assistance thing as am going to move in w a friend in a sublet situation (ie paying him my portion of the rent and he pays the real estate company) - has anyone done this, and put the cintact details

    ReplyDelete
  41. *contact details of the person you're subletting off? Or will centrelink demand the details of the agency? :(

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oops, accidentally submitted my old comment before finishing my sentence . I was just asking if anyone has had this experience with a more informal sublease situation (paying your roommate rent as they are the name on the lease), and are centrelink okay with using them as the contact, or will they demand the rental agency's details? It's tricky when youre not on the lease
