Leanne Nesbitt was just 19 years old when she had her first encounter with disgraced doctor Geoffery Edelsten in July 1983. 

She was a young up-and-coming model and he was a high-flying doctor, an entrenched part of Sydney’s elite.

The pair were splashed around the media back then and she’s back in the news again after allegedly being assaulted by Kings Cross identity Bill Bayeh outside St Vincent’s Hospital on Sunday night.

Edelsten was to be profiled in a coffee-table book about rich men and their luxury cars and Nesbitt was tasked with the job of appearing in the shoot.

Leanne Nesbitt was a 19-year-old model when she first met Geoffrey Edelsten.

 

She is now an intensive care nurse at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney.

 

The pair on their wedding day in 1984.

 

The doctor took the model to a business dinner that very night and within a week — on their first official date — he asked her to marry him, Nesbitt revealed in a 2010 interview with Women’s Weekly.

She said no to him that night, but months later he would ask again and they would tie the knot.

“He sat me down and he was clearly upset. He said that he was really in love with me. He told me that he knew that I had said I wouldn’t marry him, but asked me to reconsider,” she told the magazine in 2010. “I realised that I had fallen in love with him and that I did adore him.”

Edelsten showered her with gifts including a helicopter, sports car and even the Sydney Swans AFL team.
She said even after the pair divorced in 1988 she was still in love with him.

After that relationship ended Nesbitt married Edelsten’s barrister Chris Curtis.

The couple had kids and Nesbitt began studying for a new career.

Edelsten showered Nesbitt with luxury cars, a helicopter and even the Sydney Swans AFL team.

 

The marriage lasted three years and ended in 1988.

 

She graduated in 1992 from the University of Technology, Sydney with a nursing degree.

While still married to Curtis, but with divorce on the cards, Nesbitt started a relationship with another older man.

In 2012 she admitted to having an eight-year affair with author and broadcaster Clive James.

She blew the lid on the “secret” relationship with the expat Aussie in an explosive interview on A Current Affair.

“We had an instant attraction. Attraction is a very personal thing. It was our secret,” she said.

“I don’t know whether its got to do with experience, intelligence, I’m not sure. (But) He’d leave men half his age for dead.”

She said the pair would communicate with each other using pet names — ‘Mr Wolf’ and ‘Miss Hood’.

Nesbitt and James, who has been battling leukaemia since 2010, had a bedroom ritual of having a cup of tea and a Cherry Ripe before getting intimate.

Now 51, Nesbitt has worked as an Intensive Care Nurse at St Vincent’s Hospital since 2006.

On Sunday she was allegedly assaulted by Kings Cross identity Bill Bayeh.

Bayeh was arrested and charged with common assault and bailed to appear before Downing Centre Local Court on March 10.

He told police he didn’t know Nesbitt.
