Aero-Sharp Inverters Recalled By Australian Solar Provider
Some solar power system owners in Australia are scrambling to check the make of their inverters after a provider issued a national recall on an entire range of Aero-Sharp (not to be confused with Sharp) grid connect inverters.
The company, Beyond Building Energy, issued a recall statement on its web site on August 5. The statement reads in part:
"Beyond Building Energy is conducting the recall due to dissatisfaction with the product's level of quality. After internal audits were conducted quality issues arose due to some systems displaying slow start up times and involuntary shut downs"
Beyond Building Energy said that while the issues with Aerosharp inverters were not serious faults, it would replace all Aerosharp grid connect inverters it had installed with another brand.
An inverter is an integral part of a solar power system, converting DC current produced by a solar panel array into AC power, suitable for use by home appliances.
According to Energy Matters co-founder Max Sylvester, the Aero-Sharp inverter recall incident is a reminder to consumers shopping for solar power systems to exercise caution.
"As with solar panels, not all grid connect inverters are created equal, even among those approved for use in Australia. There has been an influx of new players in the Australian inverter market and some of these products have had little testing in Australian conditions compared to the more established brands such as SMA and Fronius."
"While it's good to see providers faced with such unfortunate issues being proactive in their response, the inconvenience to customers in replacing sub-standard equipment, particularly an inverter, is considerable. It's a situation where an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure from the customer's viewpoint."
Mr. Sylvester says the problems could possibly extend beyond inverters carrying the Aero-Sharp brand. "The issue of re-branding was raised in Energy Matters' community forums. While we have no specific information in relation to these inverters, it's not unusual for solar power equipment to be re-branded, so we advise concerned solar power system owners to contact their supplier to ascertain whether their inverter is a re-badged Aerosharp."
Energy Matters provides a solar power consumer's guide to help raise awareness of issues relating to the purchase of solar power systems.

Another shabby business practice goes supported by a lack of Risk Assessment Planning by the government.
This leaves the consumer powerless in the situation.
Fraudulent claims are made by the energy companies without ANY fines whatsoever!
Chad Fletcher pleads guilty to possession
Fletcher, 31, of Bellevue Hill in Sydney's east, appeared on Wednesday in Downing Central Local Court where his sentencing was delayed until next month.
Police had alleged that during a patrol of toilets at Hugos nightclub in Kings Cross on August 21, Fletcher was found in possession of a plastic resealable bag containing cocaine.
Fletcher's lawyer, Chris Murphy, told Magistrate Julie Huber on Wednesday the experience had been a "salutary lesson" for his client.
"One act of stupidity has put everything at risk," Mr Murphy told the court.
"He is desperately concerned that with this one act of stupidity he may lose the residue of his time in the spotlight.
"His reputation is very important to him."
Fletcher, who works as a sales representative, spent the 2010 season playing for Sydney's Balmain Dockers.
Ms Huber adjourned sentencing pending the outcome of independent psychiatric reports on Fletcher's chances of reoffending and rehabilitation.
His case is now set down for December 15.

Another sporting 'STAR' (read LOSER), who is put up on a pedestal.
The mass media, puts Australian footballers, on a pedestal, as if they are some sort of GODS of SPORT, where in reality, on the global scale, financially, they are nobodies.
These people are in the spotlight and OFTEN show how they get away with criminal acts.
True role models for the impressionable youth.
Drugs are ILLEGAL.
Watch as the Anglo - Masonic court system gives hand outs (lollies) to these criminals.
JAIL the user AND JAIL the supplier.
All this is concealled in court and hushed
PM calls union boss's 9/11 conspiracy 'stupid'
Prime Minister Julia Gillard has labelled remarks made by a trade union official who claims the 9/11 terrorist attacks were a conspiracy as "stupid".
Victorian Trades Hall Council president Kevin Bracken made the comments when he rang ABC Melbourne radio and spoke to talk-back host Jon Faine this morning.
"I believe the official story is a conspiracy theory that doesn't stand up to scientific study," Mr Bracken, who is also the Victorian secretary of the Maritime Union of Australia, told Faine.
"In my mind the buildings were imploded."
Faine originally thought the call was a prank, and said Mr Bracken's claim was "nutter theory".
This afternoon the prime minister also weighed in, saying she disagreed with Mr Bracken's theory when queried by an opposition MP during question time this afternoon.
"Obviously I don't agree with the remarks, obviously they are stupid and wrong," Ms Gillard said.
"The Labor Party is a large organisation, people join it as individuals — we don't dictate what people think."
Mr Bracken, who has voiced his views on 9/11 before, said he stuck to "scientific fact".
"Aviation fuel doesn't get hot enough to melt steel and no high rise steel frame building has before or after September 11 has ever collapsed due to fire," he said on ABC radio.
Both the Trades Hall Council has distanced itself from Mr Bracken's comments, while a spokesperson from the MUA told ninemsn Mr Bracken's views were his own and he had expressed so in 2006.

One of Julia Gillard's role is to spread government propaganda (lies).
MANY University studies have been undertaken into this topic, and evidence shows to the contrary of official government reports.
Once televised witness accounts have never been shown again on national television.
The official US government explanation of the collapse of WTC 7 building is the after shock from the collapse of the Twin Towers, YET Larry Silverstein has openly said they 'pulled' (demolished) the building.
Julia Gillard's is parroting an official government stance, and NOT any scientific University based studies / findings.
More cover ups and government lies.
ninemsn urls a mess
With finances larger than most others, ninemsn is still not able to produce a quality page without repeated urls. The example in the above illustration is NOT an isolated example but rather an indication of sloppy I.T. skills.
The illustration shows:
Obama to appear on The Daily Show
Obama to appear on The Daily Show
Tom Bosley, Mr C on 'Happy Days,' dies
Ron Howard tribute to Happy Days dad
in essence 2 stories taking up 4 urls.
What other ways is there to keep the masses amused.
This is not a matter of an excuse for such inadequate programming, but rather the apethy of the company.
The doubling up of urls is also frequently repeated on the ninemsn mobile site.

Anger over electricity charges for solar-powered homes
WHEN Neil Rayner put solar panels on his roof, he did so under two assumptions: it would help clean up the planet and that his electricity bills would become noticeably cheaper.
He was wrong on the second count.
Mr Rayner's electricity costs are increasing - the result of being forced to pay a much higher rate for power drawn from the national grid than people without household solar systems.
''It is a rip-off and the problem is we are not told that this would happen when we put solar on,'' he said.
Mr Rayner is not alone. The average non-solar home is charged between 17¢ and 19¢ per kilowatt hour of electricity used due to a Victorian government moratorium on price increases while a new ''smart'' metering system is rolled out.
But in what is described as an oversight, the moratorium does not apply to households that sign a contract to receive a premium rate for excess power generated on their roof and fed into the grid.
Instead, energy companies are charging people with photovoltaic solar panels up to double the standard rate during peak hours.
In Mr Rayner's case, AGL charges him 32¢ per kilowatt hour during the evening - the time he is most likely to need the power grid to run his home in McKinnon.
''If I had known, I would not have put panels on my roof - it's not worth it,'' he told The Age.
''I reckon I could just about set up a business explaining to people what they need to look out for if they are thinking of putting solar on, because it's become a very complicated exercise.''
Chris Shattock, of Beaumaris, estimates that since installing solar panels at his home his electricity charges have been 40 per cent higher than if he had been charged the lower rate reserved for non-solar homes.
''By having panels I am at a big disadvantage, even though I am being paid to feed some electricity back into the grid,'' he said.
More than 22,000 rooftop solar systems have been installed in Victoria.
Environment Victoria campaigns director Mark Wakeham said people with solar panels were being treated poorly. He called on the government to intervene.
''People with solar are being forced on to higher tariffs during peak hours despite the fact they are doing more than other customers to alleviate peak electricity demand,'' he said.
''It is a problem that needs to be fixed quickly so we are not penalising those who are doing most to clean up our energy supply and reduce peak demand.''
Energy Minister Peter Batchelor's spokeswoman, Roxanne Punton, said it was ''extremely disappointing'' that energy companies were not making some solar customers aware of changes to electricity tariffs.
She said the government did not want households penalised after installing solar panels.
''That is why we are currently working with solar industry advocates and energy distributors and retailers to resolve this issue quickly,'' she said.
People who believe they have been misled about changes to electricity tariffs are advised to contact the Victorian Energy and Water Ombudsman.

Officeworks Mouse mat
Another consumer watch that reveals a Consumer Rip Off, this time from Officeworks.
These mouse mats are manufactured in China, and are imported to Australia for HUGE profit.
The same mats are available from the 'swap' meets, or even other retailers for $1 each, and not the rounded up $15 from Officeworks.
Another example of how globalisation is ONLY for the benefit to the business community.
Government refuse motorist refund
THE state government will not refund 68,000 motorists who may have been incorrectly fined by dodgy speed cameras on the Hume Highway.
It comes as the government considers a massive lawsuit against the Hume Freeway speed camera operators.
The threat comes amid claims more motorists have been incorrectly fined by the point-to-point cameras, which time motorists between a 70km stretch of freeway in Melbourne's north.
Victoria Police Deputy Commissioner Roads Ken Lay assured Victorians only nine of the 68,000 motorists caught by the cameras between Craigieburn and Wallan since 2007 had been incorrectly fined
Police Minister James Merlino told 3AW this morning he was cofident the nine people identified by Victoria Police as receiving incorrect fines were the only ones affected by the technology malfunction.
"There is a great level of confidence both within the Department (of Justice) and within (camera operator) Redflex that the overwhelming majority of fines, more than 68,000, were issued correctly," he said.
But Mr Merlino said more accurate results would be revealed with the outcome of an indepent review by Deloitte auditors.
"There is a possibility that it may throw up some different results. The department and Redflex are confident that it won't."
Premier John Brumby said it might only be a small number of faults, but it undermined Victorians' confidence in the whole speed camera system.
"Victoria Police and the department are examining legal action against the company. There's a contract, the system is meant to work 100 per cent of the time," he said.
Melissa, of Wallan, said she was served with an impoundment notice last Thursday after being caught doing 154km/h in the 110km/h zone in her Mazda 2.
The P-plater, who faced a 12-month licence suspension, said she convinced a local police officer she was telling the truth, sparking the investigation that discovered the faulty cameras.

Disgruntled motorists have told the Herald Sun they plan to fight their fines in court.
The company responsible for the speed cameras, Redflex Traffic Systems, did not return the Herald Sun's calls yesterday, but its chief executive, Graham Davie, told talkback radio he was sorry.
"We deeply regret what has happened and it's obviously something we've been very quick to deal with when we've heard about it," he said. "I am sorry that this event has occurred."
Mr Lay said the cameras would not be switched back on until they had been thoroughly tested.
The problem was caused when the clock on one camera became out of sync with a second camera.
"I am incredibly disappointed that this has happened," Mr Lay said.
"As soon as the problem was identified we immediately suspended use of the point-to-point cameras and I will not be reinstating them until I am convinced that the fault has been 100 per cent eradicated."s and that measures have been put in place to ensure that this can never happen again."

Under Australian Law : Stealing is a crime.
The government has acknowledged incorrect fines, therefore they are null and void.
The government refuses to refund the monies and/or demerit point, therefore opening up an allegation of stealing.
There should be a class action law suite IMMEDIATELY against the government for stealing.
The government is showing the peasants that they are above prosecution.
Speed Camera - Hume Highway switched off
This comes to light from motorists 'detecting' that the speed cameras are indicating false readings.
These motorists have challenged the system, and taken the speeding fines to court, and proved them to be wrong.
The government is aware that it is fraudulently issuing the speeding tickets, BUT it is prepared to challenge any motorists that take the matter to court via bullying tactics, and police making threats to the motorist.
The government is deliberately hiding the truth behind the faulty speed cameras as they are one of the largest sources of revenue for the government.
A call for a Royal Commission into the theft of public monies should be made, BUT will never eventuate.
The governing Anglo-Masonic Political / Legal / Banking and Finance Industry is a closed group that mere mortals cannot break into.
Telstra phone bill fraud - government supported
Telstra has admitted that it fraudulently increases its customers bills, i.e. adding phone calls to the bill that did NOT occur.
This happens on a regular basis, in order for the company not to wear the cost of bad debts, that are not paid by customers.
The costs are dispersed amongst other customers in such a manner that the fraudulent (fake) calls are not detected easily.
Under Australian Law:
Stealing is a criminal offence, and is dealt with accordingly.
In this case the above statement is NOT true as this is Corporate Fraud, and it IS supported by the government.
An individual that has stolen 0.1 cent from one account over many accounts is serving eight years in prison.
In Australia phone call counters are not available for sale in the standard electronics retail stores.
Corporate Fraud in general is hushed by the government when its cronies are involved.
