Every few years you are 'forced' to upgrade software and hardware under the auspice that it's out-of-date, where in reality it's one of the biggest con jobs.
Surely corporations like Microsoft can make their software NOT 'out-of-date', but that would limit their profiteering ability.

What possible benefit is it for you that Microsoft obtains the following data:
- Typed text on keyboard sent every 30 minutes
- Transmits anything you say into a microphone
- Transcripts of things you say while using Cortana
- Index of all media files on your computer
- When your webcam is first enabled, 35mb of data
- Telemetry data
Microsoft should be sued to the maximum (but as we know, won't) regarding the invasion of privacy.
Now, now, let's not use the 'for better user experience' excuse.
