New smartphone 'leaks' a clever marking ploy, but when was it really conceived?

How's this for a scenario.

You just bought the newest hottest Google Pixel smartphone under the label of Pixel 6 Pro 5G (128GB) for an ungodly sum ($1299, from JB Hi-Fi) in the colony called Australia, and you read the tech news from over the seas and there are already 'leaks' about the Pixel 7.

You'd feel kind of ripped off, wouldn't you?

But that's how business is done where those corporations charge a premium for their R&D, where you the customer pays the price for their rather uninspiring new models.

Well, the truth be told, the 'brand new' smart phone that you're purchasing has already been defined 3 years prior.

According to gsmarena Samsung's flagship smartphone the Galaxy S9/S9+ was announced on the 25th  of February 2018, and released in March, where it was available to retailers in April in Australia.

We've managed to get our hands on the User Manual to the Galaxy S9+ which was available over 3 years prior to its release, in January of 2015, albeit without the 'intellectual property' or model's details being revealed.
