Dave Hughes UNLOADS on former Premier Dan Andrews

It's been established a long time ago what Australia is, and it's only gotten worse since it was first inked.

In the 1960's, author Donald Horne put pen to paper in his book "The Lucky Country" published in 1964, referring to Australia as the "lucky country".

There are a few problems with this.

First and foremost, the book  "The Lucky Country" was never meant to be a complement about Australia, but rather a dig at the low lives running the place.

His sentence describing Australia, was deliberately misquoted and popularised into pop culture, as an alleged complement about this sun burnt land.

The full quote is as follows:

“Australia is a lucky country run mainly by second rate people who share its luck. It lives on other people’s ideas, and, although its ordinary people are adaptable, most of its leaders (in all fields) so lack curiosity about the events that surround them that they are often taken by surprise.”

It's also quite clear that Mr. Horne did not have a quick peruse at the Constitution, which brings up the next point.

Another 'small' technicality, yet quite a significant legal one is that on the second page of the 'original' Commonwealth of Australia Constitution Act 1900 (UK), it is stated that:

"... the Commonwealth shall be taken to be a self-governing colony for the purpose of that Act"

This was the case in 1964 and still is so today, meaning the Imperial Act has not been repealed.

Now that the technicalities are out of the way... or maybe not there is still one more important aspect the general population may not be aware, that being that 'faceless men' run this nation.

The so called 'elected' leaders, meaning "We the people" did not elect, e.g. Mr. Daniel Michael Andrews as a premier of Victoria, nor the current puppet Mr. Benjamin Alan Carroll, but rather the 'faceless men' put the clowns in a 'Punch & Judy' clown show on display.

So here's what Dave Hughes had to say about the hit and run driver which Victoria Police support:

Australian Census 2026 - Another Government Farce?

Right now the federal (or feral, as we like to call it) government is advertising for the people to participate in an action in business/commerce/trade called the Census.

The excuse is that it needs to know certain things about you, but in reality, this is false and/or misleading information as they already have all this information through something called ‘surveillance capitalism’, from your electronic devices where they 'just' need you to confirm it.

If the government is advertising for you (the general population) to do something, you should realise it’s dodgy.

The most important aspect about this action is that a fundamental question needs to be asked:

  • Is the ABS request for your information ‘lawful’?

The short answer is no, but that should come as no surprise or shock, as many actions by state or federal governments in this colony are not lawful, where they may be ‘legal’ but not necessarily lawful.

Remember a previous time when they sold your data and YOU (the stakeholder) received zero financial compensation?

Well they’re going to do it again.

At the end of the business day, the Census is another farce the authoritarian state wants you to participate in.

Corporations DICTATE how we communicate on the internet.

Today the internet is not the same as the one that came into the homes of the general population, even though it is a government controlled carriageway.

FIRSTLY, there is no such thing as ‘freedom of speech’.

Your ‘opinion’, or even facts that you present are censored, moderated and/or removed by corporations, especially if they do not fit the current political/mainstream media narrative.

Today the internet is under the control of a corporatocracy, a handful of billionaires, also a totalitarian (virtual) state, that would make Mussolini smile in his grave, as it’s thriving in a world beyond his dreams.

Surveillance capitalism is also the order of the business day, where if something is for ‘free’, YOU are the product, period.

You are conned that the information collected is for 'advertisers', where it primarily goes into the annals of governments.

The world’s best surveillance device (for governments and corporations) is this self sponsored invention called the smartphone.

Governments and corporations are forcing, or rather ‘enticing’ the general population to use them, in order to monitor and later control them.

Personal Computers pale in comparison to the treasure trove of data that a smartphone produces.

Data is the new gold, as it has a many to one, sale relationship, compared to gold’s one to one.

A very popular resource/forum is reddit, where now it’s limiting how you communicate through it.

Before one could communicate via a browser on a PC or smartphone, whereas now if reddit detects that you’re using a browser on a smartphone, it will terminate your browsing where one MUST download the app to keep on using reddit.

So, where is the 'democracy' there? OOPS! There is none!

This is the way of the order of the new world, where privacy is becoming a criminal act.

The terrifying reason the internet exists - Weaponised against the masses from its inception?

Today, the 'interwebs' has fascist elements that would make our 'mate' Benito a proud man, as it's ideology was born before the tech was made to implement it.

Police and government surveillance is masquerading as so called 'advertisements'.

Deception by government and corporations is rife in the digital realm, where now, people who expose these ('alleged') criminal activities will be silenced through various new laws being put into place.

For those who are interested in a narrative format of an accurate account of what happened and what's going on, with regards to the tech, you can tune in to Cyb3rMaddy's Youtube channel, while you still can, where with regards to this topic you can see the video of the title:

Apple conning you that iPhones need to verify your age in the UK.

People should all be aware that governments and corporation lie to us every single day.

Apple are prolific liars, and that’s without any exaggeration whatsoever.

The new age verification laws put in place all over the world have seriously nothing to do with ‘child safety’ but rather everything to do with data collection, so that this can be used against the people to not only monitor and control their movements, but more importantly especially to stifle so their so called ‘free speech’.

Corporations (and governments) are now dictating how people can communicate on the internet, and that's deliberate by design.

See approx. 17 minute explanation by David Bombal on YouTube within the video of the title: Install GrapheneOS Before Your Phone Becomes the Checkpoint:

Laws like the Online Safety Act 2023 (UK) apply to websites and online services, where a phone's operating system does not fall under any of the two categories of the said Act.

Keeping in mind that Apple is an active participant of the FiveEyes 'Anglosphere' global surveillance network.

If you truly value your online security and privacy, the use of Apple products is not recommended.

How corporations get away with paedophilia and omit age verification

Governments are giving corporations a free pass to host material that can put the children (of the cannon fodder) in danger, contrary to their actions against the general population.

‘Age verification’ has been setup by shell corporations of Meta, in order to disassociate the onus from the ‘social media’ giants, where governments are following along with this.

The global policy to enact age verification started in the (penal) colony called Australia, under the false premise to ‘protect the children’.

In reality the action is used to hoover as much information as possible on a person that is connected to the internet, to be later used against that person.

People have too many ‘freedoms’ (e.g. of speech) on the internet and this must be kerbed by governments and corporations

An operating system (either mobile or personal computer) that may not even be connected to the internet, must now be subject to age verification and even content scanning, to allegedly keep the children ‘safe’.

Source: https://www.esafety.gov.au/about-us/industry-regulation/social-media-age-restrictions/which-platforms-are-age-restricted

Even though Facebook and Instagram are Meta’s ‘assets’ that are age-restricted social media platforms, at face value, other Meta assets Messenger and WhatApp are given free reign.

WhatApps is considered a ‘social media’ platform, yet it’s immune from ‘age-restriction’ law in Australia.

Roblox, facing over 150 child abuse cases,  needs them moved out of the courtroom, as it does not want the instances on ‘public record’.

What’s worse is that once you enter into an agreement to use Roblox, you forfeit any ability to pursue lawsuits in an open court.

How is that even allowed by the lawmakers?

Discord is also dodgy.

Keep in mind that's it's not about the safety of the children [of the serfs], but rather stifling people's alleged right to 'free speech' on the internet.

No one taking action on the Epstein Files?

No one going to prison for paedophilia?

No one releasing the FULL data cache?

In any event, the Epstein Files are a farce, as the statue of limitations has expired for many victims to obtain a so called 'remedy'.

'Telstra' scam email - Governments and corporations failing to keep us ‘safe’.

MANY people, especially those that are victims of a corrupt legal/judicial system, will say that “the system is broken”, but that is far from the truth.

The system is deliberately ‘broken’, unless of course you owe an alleged debt to state authorities or the taxation department.

Make no mistake that the system is not broken, but rather it’s functioning quite perfectly, the way they have intended it to.

A global deception that is going around at the moment in the ‘online’ world is something called ‘age-verification’ where the authorities allege that it’s in place so that the children (of the cannon fodder) are protected.

The uncomfortable reality is that governments do not care about the children of the slaves, but rather about controlling and monitoring society with this latest farce.

With regards to internet traffic, Australia has all sorts of DNS filters, firewalls, etc which moderate what content people can see or comes into Australia.

You may not be able to 'consume' content under DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act, US law), but corporations are allowed to 'steal' your (copyrighted) content.

Phishing emails like the one shown below can also be stopped with a simple ban of the domain name within the email.

So why isn't it done?

Because realistically, the people in government do not give a stuff about the serf's trials and tribulations.

As long as the people in government are looked after, is all that matters at the end of the business day.

Livin' the life in a (penal) colony.

France is ditching Microsoft Windows and so should Australia, but will it?

AS many (European) nations ditch the 'surveillance state' products that emanate from the head of the Five Eyes snake, many others are locked in to feed the beast.

If a nation that governs approximately 70 million people can abandon closed source data hoovering monopolised operating system, there is no technical reason why fascist rulers governing a colony of approximately 28 million tax slaves cannot do the same.

The real reason is political, where the lawmakers, politicians, bureaucrats are not "public servants", but rather corporate whores, subservient to 'Big Tech', Big Pharma, Big (Four) Banks, et al.

The Australian population/serfs/plebs are nothing more than another 'resource' to be fully exploited.

Australian governments are putting the people's data/privacy in danger since all that data goes to Microsoft where we do not know where else it goes and who they sell it to.

See the following article from pcmag.com of the title:

France Kicks Windows to the Curb, Pivots to Linux OS

David Amiel, France’s Minister of Public Action and Accounts, said his country must 'break free' and 'become less reliant on American tools.'

Amid strained relationships between the Trump administration and the EU, numerous politicians in the bloc have discussed pivoting away from US technology firms in the interests of national security, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and French President Emmanuel Macron.

Now, France has announced it’s moving some of its government systems away from Windows towards the open-source operating system Linux, following Denmark and parts of Germany announcing similar departures from Microsoft products earlier this year.

David Amiel, France’s Minister of Public Action and Accounts, said his country must “break free” and “become less reliant on American tools.”

“We can no longer accept that our data, our infrastructure, and our strategic decisions depend on solutions whose rules, pricing, evolution, and risks we do not control,” Amiel said in a statement first spotted by TechCrunch.

Linux, as it is open source, means you can run software without using an OS controlled and designed by an American firm—for example, Apple or Microsoft, as in the case of iOS and Windows. France’s government digital agency, DINUM, will be the first to make the jump, with other parts of government following at a later date.

The news comes after France announced it would be migrating its national healthcare database from US-based providers to an unnamed new platform earlier this month. It’s also set to pivot from using Microsoft Teams for video conferencing to the French-made tool Visio across all government departments.

Independence from US tech enjoys broad support in much of the EU. Around two-thirds of EU citizens support greater independence from American technology, according to recent market research from YouGov, particularly in areas like data storage and video conferencing. However, roughly four in ten thought independence was unrealistic.

In January, a clear majority of European lawmakers voted to adopt a report on technological sovereignty and digital infrastructure that directs the European Commission to find ways to reduce its reliance on foreign technology providers in areas like semiconductors, cloud infrastructure, software, and AI systems.

If you truly value your online privacy, then you would not use Microsoft's products.

Australia Is Facing Something Far Worse Than A Recession

Australia has become an absolute shithole now, where this is as a result of a few decades of actions by both federal & state Liberal and Labor 'governments'.

Quite simply put the fascists in control HATE the Australian public, taxpayers, voters or constituents.

Stagflation is the order of the business years.

So what does the government do?

It imports 500,000 Indian nationals alone into the colony per year (for 10 years) to falsely prop up the 'economy'.

Aussies are going to be screwed with a 'government' created recession.

In reality the people in charge must be razed to the ground and a new 'administration' installed, in a similar manner to Israel's oops Frump's new regime change in 'Eye'ran.

See Michael Cowan's, Australia Is Facing Something Far Worse Than A Rcession video below:

Opinion:

It is not recommended to 'invest' within the shores of Australia, where it's better to do business elsewhere, for greater returns.

The people in charge have truly screwed to (good) people of Australia over!

If Every Nation Is in Debt, Who Are They Paying? How Governments install Austerity

Reddit User Uncovers Who Is Behind Meta’s $2B Lobbying for Invasive Age Verification Tech

Key takeaway points:

  • Meta funneled over $2 billion through shadowy nonprofits to push age verification laws that would force Apple and Google to build surveillance infrastructure into every device, while exempting Meta’s own platforms from the same requirements.
  • Meta’s lobbying operation spans 45 states using nonprofit shells to avoid transparency requirements, with funding traced through organizations like the Digital Childhood Alliance (DCA) as part of a $70 million fragmented super PAC strategy designed to evade FEC tracking.
  • Proposed age verification laws would embed persistent identity verification directly into operating systems, with Meta’s Horizon OS for Quest VR already implementing this infrastructure and lobbying efforts targeting Meta’s competitors while leaving Meta platforms untouched.
  • A Reddit researcher just exposed how Meta funneled over $2 billion through shadowy nonprofits to push age verification laws that would force Apple and Google to build surveillance infrastructure into every device—while conveniently exempting Meta’s own platforms from the same requirements.

Following the Money Trail Through Dark Networks

Meta’s lobbying operation spans 45 states using nonprofit shells to avoid transparency requirements.

The investigation by GitHub user “upper-up” traces funding through organizations like the Digital Childhood Alliance (DCA), which launched December 18, 2024, and testified for Utah’s SB-142 just days later. Bloomberg and Deseret News reported Meta’s backing of DCA, part of a $70 million fragmented super PAC strategy designed to evade FEC tracking. Traditional election spending disclosure requirements don’t apply to this fragmented approach.

What ‘Get Age Category API’ Really Means for Your Device

Proposed laws would embed persistent identity verification directly into operating systems.

The technical reality hits harder than policy abstractions. These bills mandate OS-level APIs that apps can query for age data—creating a permanent identity layer baked into your phone’s core functions. Meta’s Horizon OS for Quest VR already implements this infrastructure through Family Center controls. Now they want Apple and Google to build similar systems that every app can access, turning age verification into persistent device fingerprinting.

The Curious Case of Platform Exemptions

Age verification bills target Meta’s competitors while leaving Meta platforms untouched.

Here’s where the lobbying gets surgical. The proposed laws hammer Apple’s App Store and Google Play with compliance requirements but reportedly spare social media platforms—Meta’s core business. It’s like Spotify lobbying for streaming regulations that only apply to Apple Music. The “child safety” rhetoric masks a competitive strategy that shifts liability from platforms to operating system makers.

Europe Shows a Different Path Forward

EU’s eIDAS 2.0 offers privacy-preserving age verification with zero-knowledge proofs that protect personal data.

The European Union’s Digital Identity Wallet takes a radically different approach. Zero-knowledge proofs let you verify age without revealing personal data—like showing you’re over 18 without disclosing your birthdate or identity details. It’s open-source, self-hostable, and only applies to large platforms while exempting FOSS and small entities. Meanwhile, US lawmakers seem ready to let Meta bamboozle them into complete privacy annihilation.

Your device’s trustworthiness hangs in the balance. These laws could force every Linux distribution and privacy-focused Android fork to implement identity verification or face legal liability. The choice between surveillance-free computing and regulatory compliance is coming faster than you think.

They ask us to complete ID Verification. 1 billion personal/ID information is leaked by IDMerit

This is huge news, that the time of this post, it's not covered by Australia's mainstream media.

For your benefit, realistically do not rely on Information Technology news by Australian 'news' outlets, but rather refer to trusted specific sources.

Approximately 12 million Australians are affected.

    What Personal Data Was Leaked?

Because IDMerit is an AI-powered KYC (Know Your Customer, a government requirement fro U.S. telecomms) provider, the data it collects is incredibly sensitive. The unsecured 1-terabyte database didn't just leak passwords—it leaked the core personal identifiers used for your financial and digital life. The following structured data was left open for anyone to download:

    • Full names

    • Addresses

    • Post codes

    • Dates of birth

    • National IDs

    • Phone numbers

    • Genders

    • Email addresses

    • Telco metadata

    • Breach status and social profile annotations

The last data point – breach status and social profile annotations – could refer to a database identifier indicating whether the data originated from a data breach or a leaked database. However, at this point, the true meaning of the data point is unclear. The team noted that this specific data point was present only in some regions.

“At this scale, downstream risks include account takeovers, targeted phishing, credit fraud, SIM swaps, and long-tail privacy harms. Industry-wide, the case underlines how third-party identity vendors have become critical infrastructure and can become single points of catastrophic failure,” our team explained.

Secret Control Room In Victoria's Parliament House

MANY of the colony’s party officials that are in office are not elected democratically by the people, but rather decided in house which one of them would be a better corporate whore.

With regards to Victoria, it is truly irrelevant which premier puppet is on display whether it’s Labor’s Jacinta Allan, Daniel Andrews or the Liberals’ Denis Napthine or ‘Ted’ Ballieu, the most important room in the building is the one the politicians or staff aren’t allowed to talk about that is the ‘blue room’.

This masthead was informed under the condition of anonymity, that what is in store for Victoria over a period that exceeds the tenure of a premier is decided by ‘faceless men’, the men that truly run the nation and states.

Nothing gets done unless it's passed by members of the 'blue room', said the source.

It is what they decide that happens not only within the state but what is coordinated by their brethren in similar positions in other states is what will be executed over the years that follow.

Whether it’s new law they have waiting, for a particular trigger moment to occur that will oppress the people to town planning or infrastructure projects and who will benefit from the falsified tenders to immigration arrivals, even though they are a federal task, they still are discussed at state level.

The 'housing crisis' is a deliberate political move to cause turmoil and financial harm for the good people of Australia that will have a generational effect.

The people are truly conned if they believe that they have voted for a person that will serve them.

These politicians only take actions that are of benefit to them, where one of the goals is to fleece from the public purse as much as possible, where even if whatever is classified as ‘too much’ will not incur any consequences.

Australia’s governments are some of the most corrupt in the world, where currently Victoria’s ‘Big Build’ is just one example of this government supported fraud.

Privacy and Security Warning: myki system bank card upgrade

Australia’s governments are all about creating more customers.

Creating more 'consumers' and importing more useless eaters, where that subject is beyond the scope of this article.

    What could go 'wrong', right?

Well, banks and financial institutions do factually commit offences and breach various Australian law, but they’re allowed to get away with it as seen within the Royal Commission, which at the end of the day was a ‘money for mates’ farce at the expense of the Australian Taxpayers.

Another action banks do, is aggregate your information, package it up, and sell it many times over.

If you ‘tap on’ and ‘tap off’ with your bank issued credit or debit card, then the bank will know your movements, package up this data and again, sell it many times over.

If you truly value your privacy, and therefore security you will not use your card or even phone with its virtual card for myki related travel.

In any event, that will just be another database which hackers will be able to eventually access and use it for whatever purpose they see fit.

The question is not ‘if’ but rather ‘when’ will your data get hacked?

Google’s false information about 'protecting' its community.

Corporations lie to their stakeholders, users and the general population every single day.

Google has recently been lying on a global scale and there is zero repercussions.

There are a few ways into interact on the internet which can be summed up as either an active user or a passive one.

Let’s start with the passive example first.

A person can be the recipient of a TikTok/Instagram/YouTube link where it can be opened up in a web browser such as Brave/FireFox/Chromium without that person having to log in that corporation’s platform.

At that point in time that person cannot interact with the poster or community by writing a comment or even give a thumbs up to whatever was shown, where that person is also known as a ‘lurker’.

Since no interaction can be made, that person cannot allegedly be a danger to the community, as the community is not aware that the person even exists.

Now, if a person is logged in to TikTok/Facebook/YouTube then that person can post content that may not be safe for work, or even exercising one’s right to (alleged) ‘free speech’ by criticising a government’s new agenda or the passing of an unlawfully enacted law.

Those comments may then have to be moderated in order to allegedly ‘protect’ that online community.

So now Google (via Youtube) claims that when you are lurking on their platform, you could be a bot, implying that you could hurt the community, and when you log in “this helps protect our community”.

Quite simply put, no it does not! That is a blatant lie.

When will people wake up to the lies and deception by corporations.

It’s NOT about protecting their ‘community’ but rather surveillance capitalism, keeping in mind that Google is one of the world’s largest advertising data harvesting corporations, where they need to you log in to their platform so that they can sell you (the product) to others.

Who is "our community"? The people working for Google or the people using their platforms?

In the same vein as the above question, see link:

Surveillance Capitalism: How ICE uses phone and internet data to identify and track people

Yeah, you're right about the legal protection. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be much around this sort of data at all. On a more technical level, it is simply being more aware of the things you're installing on your phone. Maybe you downloaded a flashlight app and it's requesting location data. Well, does it really need that permission that's requested on my phone? Maybe you can deny that, maybe you can delete that app.

And of course, getting some sort of ad blocker potentially could help. But as I said earlier, I think turning off location services is probably the more solid and robust way to combat this, if you wish to do so.

But no, there isn't really a legal protection. It's more a technical protection that you have to do yourself as an individual phone user.

Corrupt Victorian government’s unlawful cash grab

The colony’s governments, both state and federal are highly corrupt, where this corruption is masked by their brethren in the judiciary.

They act with impunity and in many instances, their alleged (debt) collection is unlawful.

Information from a source has been obtained, on the condition of anonymity, that the government of Victoria has embarked on an unlawful, (alleged) debt collection campaign against their unsuspecting victims, that being the ‘public’ in order to recoup the over $6 billion deficit the people in government have created.

Various ‘revenue raising’ businesses, like Victoria police, Fines Victoria, Sheriff’s Office Victoria, State Revenue Office et al are all unlawfully trying to extort funds from the general population.

The people within the judicature are also in on this multi-billion dollar fraud, as they enable it.

The context of the word ‘unlawful’ is the be understood as, that there is no lawfully enacted instrument that allows action against the person named.

This is particularly true when it comes to warrants for Victoria Police or the so called ‘Sheriff’s Office Victoria’.

Will there be a court matter that the general population will be made aware of by the mainstream media’s ‘court reporters’?

Most definitely not, as this goes against the narrative by the ‘faceless men’.

The plebs MUST be kept in the dark, period.

It’s all a “bread and circuses” clown show.

Facebook SCAMS its users, 15 billion scam ads a day!

Internal documents have revealed that Meta has projected it earns billions from ignoring scam ads that its platforms then targeted to users most likely to click on them.

In a lengthy report, Reuters exposed five years of Meta practices and failures that allowed scammers to take advantage of users of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

Documents showed that internally, Meta was hesitant to abruptly remove accounts, even those considered some of the “scammiest scammers,” out of concern that a drop in revenue could diminish resources needed for artificial intelligence growth.

Instead of promptly removing bad actors, Meta allowed “high value accounts” to “accrue more than 500 strikes without Meta shutting them down,” Reuters reported. The more strikes a bad actor accrued, the more Meta could charge to run ads, as Meta’s documents showed the company “penalized” scammers by charging higher ad rates. Meanwhile, Meta acknowledged in documents that its systems helped scammers target users most likely to click on their ads.

“Users who click on scam ads are likely to see more of them because of Meta’s ad-personalization system, which tries to deliver ads based on a user’s interests,” Reuters reported.

Internally, Meta estimates that users across its apps in total encounter 15 billion “high risk” scam ads a day. That’s on top of 22 billion organic scam attempts that Meta users are exposed to daily, a 2024 document showed. Last year, the company projected that about $16 billion, which represents about 10 percent of its revenue, would come from scam ads.

“High risk” scam ads strive to sell users on fake products or investment schemes, Reuters noted. Some common scams in this category that mislead users include selling banned medical products, or promoting sketchy entities, like linking to illegal online casinos. However, Meta is most concerned about “imposter” ads, which impersonate celebrities or big brands that Meta fears may halt advertising or engagement on its apps if such scams aren’t quickly stopped.

“Hey it’s me,” one scam advertisement using Elon Musk’s photo read. “I have a gift for you text me.” Another using Donald Trump’s photo claimed the US president was offering $710 to every American as “tariff relief.” Perhaps most depressingly, a third posed as a real law firm, offering advice on how to avoid falling victim to online scams.

Meta removed these particular ads after Reuters flagged them, but in 2024, Meta earned about $7 billion from “high risk” ads like these alone, Reuters reported.

Sandeep Abraham, a former Meta safety investigator who now runs consultancy firm Risky Business Solutions as a fraud examiner, told Reuters that regulators should intervene.

“If regulators wouldn’t tolerate banks profiting from fraud, they shouldn’t tolerate it in tech,” Abraham said.

Meta won’t disclose how much it made off scam ads

Meta spokesperson Andy Stone told Reuters that its collection of documents—which were created between 2021 and 2025 by Meta’s finance, lobbying, engineering, and safety divisions—“present a selective view that distorts Meta’s approach to fraud and scams.”

Stone claimed that Meta’s estimate that it would earn 10 percent of its 2024 revenue from scam ads was “rough and overly-inclusive.” He suggested the actual amount Meta earned was much lower but declined to specify the true amount. He also said that Meta’s most recent investor disclosures note that scam ads “adversely affect” Meta’s revenue.

“We aggressively fight fraud and scams because people on our platforms don’t want this content, legitimate advertisers don’t want it, and we don’t want it either,” Stone said.

Despite those efforts, this spring, Meta’s safety team “estimated that the company’s platforms were involved in a third of all successful scams in the US,” Reuters reported. In other internal documents around the same time, Meta staff concluded that “it is easier to advertise scams on Meta platforms than Google,” acknowledging that Meta’s rivals were better at “weeding out fraud.”

As Meta tells it, though seemingly dismal, these documents came amid vast improvements in its fraud protections. Stone told Reuters that “over the past 18 months, we have reduced user reports of scam ads globally by 58 percent and, so far in 2025, we’ve removed more than 134 million pieces of scam ad content,” Stone said.

According to Reuters, the problem may be the pace Meta sets in combating scammers. In 2023, Meta laid off “everyone who worked on the team handling advertiser concerns about brand-rights issues,” then ordered safety staffers to limit use of computing resources to devote more resources to virtual reality and AI. A 2024 document showed Meta recommended a “moderate” approach to enforcement, plotting to reduce revenue “attributable to scams, illegal gambling and prohibited goods” by 1–3 percentage points each year since 2024, supposedly slashing it in half by 2027. More recently, a 2025 document showed Meta continues to weigh how “abrupt reductions of scam advertising revenue could affect its business projections.”

Eventually, Meta “substantially expanded” its teams that track scam ads, Stone told Reuters. But Meta also took steps to ensure they didn’t take too hard a hit while needing vast resources—$72 billion—to invest in AI, Reuters reported.

For example, in February, Meta told “the team responsible for vetting questionable advertisers” that they weren’t “allowed to take actions that could cost Meta more than 0.15 percent of the company’s total revenue,” Reuters reported. That’s any scam account worth about $135 million, Reuters noted. Stone pushed back, saying that the team was never given “a hard limit” on what the manager described as “specific revenue guardrails.”

“Let’s be cautious,” the team’s manager wrote, warning that Meta didn’t want to lose revenue by blocking “benign” ads mistakenly swept up in enforcement.

Meta should donate scam ad profits, ex-exec says

Documents showed that Meta prioritized taking action when it risked regulatory fines, although revenue from scam ads was worth roughly three times the highest fines it could face. Possibly, Meta most feared that officials would require disgorgement of ill-gotten gains, rather than fines.

Meta appeared to be less likely to ramp up enforcement from police requests. Documents showed that police in Singapore flagged “146 examples of scams targeting that country’s users last fall,” Reuters reported. Only 23 percent violated Meta’s policies, while the rest only “violate the spirit of the policy, but not the letter,” a Meta presentation said.

Scams that Meta failed to flag offered promotions like crypto scams, fake concert tickets, or deals “too good to be true,” like 80 percent off a desirable item from a high-fashion brand. Meta also looked past fake job ads that claimed to be hiring for Big Tech companies.

Rob Leathern previously led Meta’s business integrity unit that worked to prevent scam ads but left in 2020. He told Wired that it’s hard to “know how bad it’s gotten or what the current state is” since Meta and other social media platforms don’t provide outside researchers access to large random samples of ads.

With such access, researchers like Leathern and Rob Goldman, Meta’s former vice president of ads, could provide “scorecards” showing how well different platforms work to combat scams. Together, Leathern and Goldman launched a nonprofit called CollectiveMetrics.org in hopes of “bringing more transparency to digital advertising in order to fight deceptive ads,” Wired reported.

“I want there to be more transparency. I want third parties, researchers, academics, nonprofits, whoever, to be able to actually assess how good of a job these platforms are doing at stopping scams and fraud,” Leathern told Wired. “We’d like to move to actual measurement of the problem and help foster an understanding.”

Another meaningful step that Leathern thinks companies like Meta should take to protect users would be to notify users when Meta discovers that they clicked on a scam ad—rather than targeting them with more scam ads, as Reuters suggested was Meta’s practice.

“These scammers aren’t getting people’s money on day one, typically. So there’s a window to take action,” he said, recommending that platforms donate ill-gotten gains from running scam ads to “fund nonprofits to educate people about how to recognize these kinds of scams or problems.”

“There’s lots that could be done with funds that come from these bad guys,” Leathern said.
